Medals and Badges from the Collection of the Museum of Music History from early 19th to late 20th century
Exhibition in the room 3th of the Museum of Music History
Curator: Anna BARANYI
PERMANENT EXHIBITION
The exhibition is open: From 1 October 2012
A selection from the collection of the Museum of Music History of the Institute for Musicology, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences is on display. The earliest exhibited items are minted medals in the classicist style from the first half of the 19th century. The art of medals reached its period of flourish with the spread of art nouveau at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Then, during the 20th century, it became extremely rich and varied thematically and stylistically, just like other fine art genres, which is reflected in the exhibited material as well. A selection of badges related to festive events, Hungarian choirs and musical associations is displayed in a separate section of the exhibition.
