Communicating music scenes. Networks, power, technology. May 19–20, 2017. The first international conference in Hungary focusing on the relations and communications between people, formal and informal institutions, and technologies in the context of music making. Understanding and exploring music scenes as networks can help us to uncover the power relations that affect those scenes, while also leading to a nuanced understanding of the changing technological and media context in which music is produced, disseminated, consumed, and talked about. | Commemorating the 125th anniversary of Miklós Radnai’s birth Márton Karczag and Ferenc János Szabó wrote a monograph about the composer and director. The monograph was published by the Hungarian State Opera.

The Archives for Hungarian Music organizes a memorial concert on 16 February 2015, 7.15 pm the anniversary of the death of László Lajtha, at Hagyományok Háza (Hungarian Heritage House). The students of the Oratorio and Song faculty of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music will perform Lajtha’s folksong arrangements and Ferenc János Szabó, a member of the research group will perform piano pieces by Lajtha. Entry is free. |

Hungarian popular music in the 20th and 21st century]. The conference will take place on 31 January and 1 February 2014, at the Bartók hall, Institute of Musicology (Research Center for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences), featuring papers inter alia on popular music, jazz, operetta and gypsy music.
